Knitting Club

Joining a knitting club can help you make new friends or catch up with friends you’ve already made and strengthen those bonds. Knitting has always been a social craft that lets you chat away while you craft your next scarf or a pair of socks.  It’s always good to stay in practice. Not only will you have ample opportunities to practice your needlework you may find new ideas for your next project. Members frequently trade knitting patterns or techniques and get inspired by each others’ projects.

Qwirkle

The abstract game of Qwirkle consists of 108 wooden blocks with six different shapes in six different colors. There is no board, players simply use an available flat surface.

Players begin the game with six blocks. The start player places blocks of a single matching attribute (color or shape but not both) on the table. Thereafter, a player adds blocks adjacent to at least one previously played block. The blocks must all be played in a line and match, without duplicates, either the color or shape of the previous block.

DROP-IN Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-NOON, at the Legion

Mosaics

Create stunning pieces of art using a huge variety of materials: bold, matt, shiny, iridescent and downright unusual. Combine them all to create stunning mosaics. A decorative art created from assembling small pieces of glass, stone or other materials, mosaic is great for ‘artists’ and

‘non-artists’ alike. Develop your mosaic-making skills in a creative and supportive environment. This year participants will be working independently (no facilitator) and bringing their own projects from

home to work with each week!

Jewelry Making

Learn new techniques for making wire jewellry or just to see what others are doing with their craft! We are a small but interesting group of seniors making jewelry for ourselves, family and friends and occasionally a craft fair. We presently work with wire and beads, not actual silversmithing. Of course, we are open to anyone with an interest in jewelry making!

Mexican Trains

A version of dominoes with lots of laughter! Mexican Trains is a game played with number dominoes.

The object of the game is for a player to play all the dominoes from his or her hand onto one or more

chains, or “trains”, emanating from a central hub or “station”.

Mah Jong

MAHJONG is a game of skill, strategy, calculation and a good dose of Luck!! Similar to the card game rummy, it has been a popular and well attended part of the senior activity centre. Adrianne

Davis, one of our regular players, has kindly offered to host sessions to learn the  the basics of the game for those who are interested in reviewing or learning the game.

Book Club

A book discussion club is a group of people who meet to discuss a book or books that they have read and express their opinions, likes, dislikes and other topics related to the book.  Our current Book Club is full and we are planning to start a second monthly/bi-monthly Book Club.

Please Register for this event, Limited Spacing.  Thursdays 10:30 at the Legion am Fall/Winter/Spring

Ping Pong

Ping - Pong is a lively game, yet it’s playable at the pace the competitors choose. In other words, because there are so many ways to benefit from the game, it’s not necessary to go full-tilt to enjoy it. The intensity of a good Ping - Pong game can be an excellent cardiovascular workout for seniors.  Stiff muscles and tight ligaments are put to work, and strengthening them will help reduce the risk for falls.

DROP-IN Wednesdays Quadra Community Centre Main Hall, 3:00-4:30 PM Sept 16 - Dec 16, 2026
