Serving Quadra Island
Seniors since 2020
Quadra Island Better at Home offers non-medical services to help seniors with everyday tasks, allowing them to maintain their independence and stay connected to their communities. These services are available to residents of Quadra Island (65+) and are funded by the Province of British Columbia and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland.
The fees for Quadra Island Better at Home services are determined on a sliding scale (see below) based on the household income. Transportation is provided free of charge by volunteers.
I'm beyond pleased to have the reliable help that Better at Home now provides on Quadra. I'm 80 yrs. young and have noticed a lovely feeling of great relief when necessary chores now get done.

You can make a difference
The Quadra Island Better at Home program relies on grants and donations to fund the cost of our valuable services. Please donate today.
Something as simple as housekeeping or rides to medical appointments can make the difference between local seniors living safely in their home or making the heartbreaking choice to leave their friends and the island they love, to move to where they can receive adequate care. Seniors built this community, and we owe it to them to keep them where they are happiest…at home.
Better At Home Services
LIGHT HOUSEKEEPING
Our Light Housekeeping service is provided by trained, qualified, and fully insured employees.
If you could use a little help around the house, our friendly housekeeper will collaborate with you to create a plan and set up a regular schedule.
LIGHT YARD WORK
This seasonal service will help you keep your yard clean and safe. Mowing, weed wacking and moving firewood are all part of the Light Yard Work service. Winter clean-up is also available on request.
MINOR HOME REPAIRS
Need a broken step fixed? A lightbulb changed that’s too high to reach? A safety bar installed in your shower? We offer minor home repairs for all seniors registered in the Better at Home program. Clients are responsible for the cost of materials. Tools and labour are provided through the program at subsidized rates.
DELIVERIES
Our volunteer drivers can make home deliveries that include groceries, prescription medication and mail. (Meal delivery is available through Quadra Circle). Donations for deliveries are welcome through the Quadra Circle office or online. We ask for a minimum of 48 hours to book deliveries.
TRANSPORTATION
The Quadra Island Better at Home Program can help with transportation to appointments and activities on Quadra Island and to Campbell River via our vetted volunteers. Donations for rides are welcome through the Quadra Circle office or online. We ask for a minimum of 48 hours to book rides.
